- Origin: Indonesia
- Age: Miocene, 23 - 5 million years
- Size: H71cm W88cm
- Weight: 38 Kg
- Description: Indeterminate petrified wood slice with evident growth rings. The polishedto-form top augments the dark grey, and darker colours. Growth rings are less common in Indonesian petrified wood than in North American varieties because the swamp-like Miocene environment of Indonesia allowed for quicker decay of organic materials.
- Additional information: Petrified wood, fossil formed by the invasion of minerals into cavities between and within cells of natural wood, usually by silica (silicon dioxide, SiO2) or calcite (calcium carbonate, CaCO3).
