  • Origin: Congo
  • Size: H22.5cm W20cm D6cm
  • Weight: 2.3 Kg
  • Description: The slice polished to front side, to reveal cross-section with a composition of a high number or smaller botryoidal forms, revealing several turquoise blue and green tones. Mounted on a handmade custom stand.
  • Additional information:
    • Chrysocolla, a silicate mineral, hydrated copper silicate, CuSiO3·2H2O, formed as a decomposition product of copper minerals in most copper mines, especially in arid regions. It occurs as crusts or masses in the upper parts of copper ore veins where the copper minerals have been altered by water containing dissolved silica. Specimens with a fine green or bluish green colour may be used as ornamental stones.
    • Malachite, a minor ore but a widespread mineral of copper, basic copper carbonate, Cu2CO3(OH)2. Because of its distinctive bright green colour and its presence in the weathered zone of nearly all copper deposits, malachite serves as a prospecting guide for that metal. Malachite has been used as an ornamental stone and as a gemstone for centuries.
  • Suggested reserve price (excl. VAT): USD$850 / €800 / £700
